It’s been told that while walking through the woods of their estate, Sophia Tolstaya (wife of Leo Tolstoy) proudly exclaimed to her little son Vanischka that ‘All this is yours!’ As the youngest member of the Tolstoy family the boy was to inherit all. Wondering at his mother he replied softly, ‘Mother, everything belongs to everyone. This isn’t mine’.
